We're regularly running meeting
major players (and running into old friends) in the industry.
On July 18, we met multiple-award-winning producer/director
writer Kenneth Johnson; legendary producer, director
Chuck Bowman and major star Mariette Hartley.
It was also great to be able to catch up with Lou Ferrigno
after not seeing him for over a dozen years. We expect to
have at least one or two of these special people on our calls in
the near future. We will announce it here, on our Calendar
of Events, and in the weekly newsletter. |

SHOW NOTES |
|
August 11, 2007 TeleSeminar Call:

We're
preparing ... We'll build the show notes once the actual call
begins ... stand by ...
And .... Here
we go ...
Our
producer/actor friend (who will be joining us on the call today)
called the APS/HollywoodSuccess offices earlier today with a
question. "I just listened to last week's recorded call.
Every time a new person joined the call, there was an audible
ding. Those tones sometimes cause the listeners to miss a
couple of the speaker's words. Hearing those tones fifty
times or so during the call becomes distracting. Is there
anything you can do to turn those entry and exit tones off?"
The answer to Trena's question is, "No, Trena, we can not." --
Just kidding. Of course we can, and we will be disabling
those tones early in today's program. We won't know when
people join us now unless they announce themselves. So,
unless you're terribly bashful (bashful actors?), please let us
know you're with us.
Our intention
for today's call is also to keep 2-way communication open
between all of the callers for as long as we can. If
background noise gets to be a challenge, we will probably mute
the callers. That means you will still be able to hear us,
but nobody will be able to hear you. When we ask for
questions from the callers, we will either un-mute everybody or
we will tell you how to un-mute yourself. Pressing "*6"
on your phone will usually allow you to mute or un-mute yourself
when we have that option turned on (and it's usually turned on).
In
addition to talking with the producers and allowing the callers
to interact and ask questions of them, our intention today is to
give our callers (and listeners) insight and "inside
information" on networking, marketing, and promotion. We
will make reference to the 13-page booklet pictured here.
Click on the booklet to view it on your monitor or to print it.
We suggest you print a hard copy of the booklet and add your own
notes to it as we discuss topics of interest during the next
several TeleSeminars. |

This was an
extraordinary call. APS Entertainment President Rock
Riddle introduced the call. He expounded upon the
introduction he did in TeleSeminar #6. The opportunities
for the actors on the calls were explained.
"Professionalism is much more an attitude than it is a long list
of credits." The mission statement of the calls was
shared.
"If you
don't know where you're headed, how to you expect to ever get
there?"
"Dream
bigger. Yes, you can have it all ... Nobody can steal your
dreams unless you give them away."
Suggestion:
Submit (via e-mail) questions for next week's call.
Tad
Atkinson was introduced. VP of project development for
Great Ideas Entertainment. Feature Films upcoming:
"The Razz Club" begins in October. A $6 million thriller
is in pre-production ("CounterBalance"), "Actorz" (Comedy).
FilmMakers Challenge is their project as well. In
development on nine additional projects.
Tad exec
and co-produced "Foursome." Upcoming also "Jeff Goes
Hollywood" and a parody. Matt Way's feature film was
discussed (starring Susan Sarandon and Danny DeVito). Tad
Atkinson is casting associate on the project. He brought
us up to date. Additional stars were discussed for this
project and the Counter-Balance film.
Producer,
director, casting director, and PR professional Bill Hooey was
introduced. Bill brought us up to date and shared lots of
wonderful advice with the actor callers.
Trena Marie
Hill was introduced. She discussed her cable TV show and
had some great questions for the other producer guests.
It
was an extraordinary call. You can listen to the call
online by clicking the "phone" button:
We look forward to talking with you on future calls ... and
hopefully in person at the Studio City events! |

Tad
Atkinson |
Actor/Producer
Tad started acting at the age of 6 under the tutelage of Hollywood and
Broadway producer/writer/director Joshua Logan. A veteran of over
80 stage shows, this versatile performer has also sung in such venues as
Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Franz Lizt Music Academy in
Budapest. He is VP of Project Development at Great Ideas
Entertainment, and has received star billing over actor Lance Henriksen,
among his many other principal/leading roles since coming to Hollywood.
He is a dedicated, professional performer, and one of the funniest guys
on set.
Tad also works on the production side of the
industry. He has co-produced or associate produced two films and
is currently seeking talent for an upcoming feature film. |

Cortelious |
In
addition to being an extraordinary actor, Cortelious is one of the most
fascinating people I have ever met. He has "beyond top secret"
status in his "other job." Knowledge he will never share makes him
even more interesting. I believe he has answers to many of my most
intriguing questions. "Gee, Rock," he will occasionally say, "I
don't know. Of course, if I did know, I couldn't tell you.
And, if I did tell you, I'd have to kill you." The slight smile on
his face tells me there's an underlying truth to his statements.
For certain types of movies, he could be an extraordinary technical
advisor --- without giving away any sensitive information. :-) |

Michael
Gavino |
As a boy in Maryland, Michael Gavino used to walk through
the woods dreaming of all sorts of fanciful stories. He would often
dream of being different characters in those stories. Little did he know
that dreaming would lead to a lifetime of acting. After leaving
Maryland, Michael attended Florida Atlantic University where he excelled
at academics and played for FAU's NCAA intercollegiate baseball team.
After earning his Bachelor and Master's of Arts from FAU, Michael
pursued his artistic dream. He continued his studies by attending The
New York Film Academy and studying under several prestigious private
teachers. He also started to act. As an actor, Michael has been in over
30 films and played the lead in 16. Among the films he has starred in
are: Detour to Hell, Reaping the Girl, The Devil and the Girl, Etiquette
of Dating, The Unknown Hero, Yes You Do, Upside Down Dan, Murder by the
Book, Night of the Escorts, I Wish I was a Fish, Vietnam Worm, Mary's
Secret, Tutorial 666, Urban Shootout, Caught Stealin’, and The
Encounter. Michael is happy for all he has achieved and has a simple
formula for success -- acting + hard work = happiness.
Michael is a successful
business man who has created several successful businesses. His
success is assured in the film and television industry as well, because
he is approaching the acting business as a business. He will also
be on the production side of the industry in the near future, producing
his own feature films ... |

Allan
Rabinowitz |
Allan has been acting since the age of 5 (Santa Claus—the
only Jewish kid in class!) and ever since in NY and LA. Many years of
stage work include years of way-off-Broadway theater and memorable roles
such as Scrooge, Matthew Harrison Brady (Inherit the Wind), Gordon
Miller (Room Service), Juror #3 (Twelve Angry Men) and Gaby (On the
Town). Recent years have included roles in indy shorts and features,
many training and documentary films, lead doctor in an episode of
"Untold Tales of the ER" (Dr. Lang in "The Gypsy King") and prominent
(and fun) background in "Friends With Money." (Watch him several times—he’s
the classy mature guy in the tux--between Jennifer Anniston and friend.)
By the way, Allan is also a licensed Performance Anxiety/ Stress
Management Specialist whose treatment is covered by SAG and AFTRA
benefits. |

Tom

TOM
SCHROEDER from Seattle, WA.
I
plan to get a lot of information from this teleconference before I
come down to the LA area. I would like to attend one of the events
in person in the very near future or see any of the producers and
casting directors on an appointment basis. I can fly weekly from
Seattle with very little expense, so it would be easy to arrange a
time to meet with all of you (if possible) as I intend to become an
actor full time. Thank
you for allowing me this opportunity to participate in the
conference. |
