VP of Great Ideas Entertainment Seeking Talent for Multiple Feature Films!

Tad Atkinson (confirmed):  Producer/Professional Actor/Casting Director:  A consummate professional and a gifted public speaker, Tad excels on both sides of the camera.  He is VP of Great Ideas Entertainment, a feature film production company.  To get an idea of some of his current and upcoming projects, we are reproducing the e-mail that we just received from him below:
Rock,

Be glad to speak.  As for the info you requested:

1)  We begin shooting The Ras Club in October (a feature comedy mocku-documentary, straight to video release with Blockbuster);

2) We're in pre-production on a $5 million budget feature, Counterbalance.  Right now, we have John Larroquette, Jeremy London, and Rachel Minor attached to the project.  We just increased the budget to take it from a straight to video release to a theatrical distribution, and so are upping the bids in terms of re-casting the project (Dreyfuss may therefore be back in the picture).  The theatrical distribution interest, at present, is from Universal.  We had previously done a full audition process; I don't know if this will impact our previous casting, or if we're just recasting the main lead characters.

3)  We're also in pre-production on the second of our 3 picture deal with Blockbuster, a low budget comedy called Jeff Goes Hollywood.  I'm not sure when casting for that begins, but I definitely would like to bring in some APS actors on that.

4)  BRAND NEW PROJECT!!!  We're working on putting together a workout video targeted for the morbidly obese---not the usual video with trim, toned bodies that HOPEFULLY will get the obese to work out and shed pounds.  Our people on camera will be clearly in need of the exercise, and the program will show them as they lose the weight.  We're investigating a strategic alliance with my contacts at the Hollywood Cookie Diet (Sunset Health Systems) to see if they would be interested in adding the cookie diet to the regimen our on-camera participants follow.

5)  We are in development on 7 or 8 other projects.  Our next big budget feature is currently budgeted for $10.5 million---a comedy entitled Actorz.  One of the leads is going out to several names:  Jerry Mathers, Christopher Lloyd, and Robin Williams, among them.  There is also the third of our Blockbuster deal in development, a horror/farce called Run, Scream, Die!, as well as other, larger budget features.  We are also talking to Comedy Central about picking up the sitcom pilot we shot for the Internet (in which I starred), ElectroShock Therapy.  The remaining projects I won't address, as we've not even hit the phase of seeking funding for them, let alone getting names attached.

Additionally, Rich and I are meeting with one of John Travolta's people tomorrow about funding a multi-film package deal.  If I can reveal anything from that meeting, I can talk about that, as well.

I met with Matt Way this evening, and he's done some major revisions to his script, and it's only sounding BETTER!!!!  I will definitely be going in front of the director and producers on the project for a role, and (as you know) Danny DeVito, Susan Sarandon, and Shelly Long are all interested in this project.  Tanya Lemani George will likely have a role, as well.  :-)

If you like, I can also talk to the actors about some of my ideas on marketing the Ultimate Product (forming an S Corporation or LLC, and then writing a business plan to attract investors, getting public speaking engagements like the sci-fi con I'll be guest speaking at, etc.)  Or I can simply confine my talk to the projects upcoming in which I am involved, either as an actor or on the production side.  Just let me know.  :-)

Tad

"The Art & Science of Networking in the Entertainment Industry"

Professionals in the entertainment industry must network in order to become successful.  They must network in order to remain successful  This is an absolutely amazing seminar event taught by active entertainment industry professionals.  If you live in the greater Los Angeles area, you run into people who can hire you every day.  Learn how to recognize them, what to say to them, and how to follow-up so they will want to hire you.  Learn what professional networking events are open to you -- networking events where you can meet producers (the people who hire and fire everybody) -- and there are multiple networking events going on every day.  Learn how to research these people, how and where to meet them in a professional businesslike atmosphere, how to design and utilize a "tickle" file to stay in touch with them, and much more.  And, if you really want to make the most of this opportunity, here are a few suggestions:

  1. Bring photos and resumes for the producers.  Well over 40 actors have been hired as a result of meeting producers at these events.
  2. Bring a tape recorder if you're not great at taking notes.  There will be a great deal of insight and "inside" information shared with you on Sunday.
  3. Make a list of all the movies and TV shows you've seen in the last five years that you thought were extraordinary.
  4. See if you can find the names of the producers of those projects; then see how many current addresses you can find of those producers.  Don't worry if you don't have total success.  You'll learn how to do this quickly and easily at the seminar.
  5. Make a list of the producers and directors with whom you'd like to work.  You'll learn how to contact and approach them at Sunday's seminar.
  6. Dress professionally, as though you'll be meeting people who can hire you -- because you will.
  7. Share this information with your actor friends.  Invite them to attend.  One thing you will be taught is the necessity of having a support system in achieving major success quickly -- the greatest amount of success in the least amount of time (and how to totally enjoy the journey).
  8. Please be on time.  The doors open at 1:30 PM, and we start at 2:00 PM.  It's better to be late than not to attend at all.  However, it's much better to be at least a few minutes early.  The producers will be impressed by your professionalism.
  9. Sign in when you arrive, take a free 13-page "Success Tips" booklet, make a Nametag for yourself, take a seat, and get ready for an amazing career-boosting three hour seminar event!
  10. Be sure to register for the drawing.  Several wonderful and valuable prizes will be given away.

You'll be amazed at the amount of usable knowledge you gain at this event.
