Richard Meyer, A man
of many talents and various previous careers has brought his
expertise, business acumen creativity and intelligence to the art of
acting as a full time endeavor. He wrote produced and starred in
two movies in Maine where he resided for the past ten years He also
acted in over twenty films there and here in LA
(been here 11 months).
At sixteen Richard fell in love with the concept of being a
Renaissance man. To that end he has succeeded in many trades. He
taught in public school for four years. With his reading group,
that jumped an average of four years in reading skills in one year,
he produced plays with his students who presented these to other
classes in the school. One included building seven foot dinosaurs
that had elements of animatronics capability. Richard saw to all
details in these productions from costume design to choreography, to
sound tracks superimposed over the live action. The principal of
the school was so impressed that he insisted on additional shows so
parents and town people could attend as well.
After teaching Richard worked as a chef, another of his interests in
the NYC area in an Italian upscale restaurant. Also at this time he
transitioned to a successful sales career of upscale items. This
provided his ability to move to Maine, a place he loved for its
beauty. Once there he felt the need for further
education, so he went again to college for fine arts and
acting for camera, a secret burning interest. The products of note
of this move was a sculpture that got him notice from a curator of
the Metropolitan Museum of Natural History in NYC. It was suggested
to him to do a sculpture that glorifies the beauty of femininity in
the form of a representational statue of female beauty. If he finds
the right model this will be done in the future. Also at this time
he initiated the beginnings of a film career with no small acclaim
for his acting ability. For four years Richard studied all aspects
of movie production as well as acting and finally last year he got
in his truck and drove the 3300 miles to LA, alone, eyes on the
prize . He immediately got a lead role in an exciting new series
with David Heavener Entertainment that he is now helping to
produce. He also did five other films and a play in the 11 months
he has been here. With his typical commitment Richard has totally
dedicated himself, body, mind and soul to the consummation of all
his previous careers, acting. His motto is, "I'll do it or I'll be
dead. In the first case I will be happy and in the second I won't
care." |
