(Under Construction)
Jason Barker
is an amazing performer and a fascinating human being. He
is one of those very rare individuals who excels at
everything he pursues. He knew at a very young age, for
example, that he had an innate comedic ability. Influenced
by Robin Williams, Bob Hope, and Jerry Lewis, young Jason
discovered that he had already become an “instant” improv
artist.
At the tender age of six, Jason began
his martial arts training. His teacher was Master Yakahoshi,
who had been a student himself of the world-famous master,
Bruce Lee, and the art of Jeet Kun Do. By age sixteen,
Jason was the proud holder of Black Belts in many arts.
They include not only his much-loved Jeet Kun Do, but also
Tai Quan Do, Aikido, Hapkeido, Jujitsu, Tai Chi, Tai boxing,
Tangoodo, Judo, White Tiger Karate and others.
Jason began his theatrical career
performing in church and school plays at age seven. He was
very good, and he knew that acting would be a big part of
the rest of his life.
Jason put his comedy and acting career
on hold along with his brand new marriage to join Uncle Sam’s Army, serving in the 125th
during Desert Storm. When honorably discharged from the
service in 1991, he began building his new life with
his wife, concentrating his energies on being a good father,
husband, and provider. During this time, of course, he
continued his acting and improv classes, while spending
countless hours writing music, poetry, and comedy in
addition to perfecting his many accents, voices, and
impressions. These ranged from cartoon characters such
as Gonzo to celebrities like Bill Clinton to the many
accents and dialects.
Jason always knew he had a career in the film and television
industry awaiting him. He decided that his career
would wait a little longer so that he could open his martial
arts school and make a positive impact in his community.
Jason made a great impact and received recognition and
commendations from many of the area's karate schools, police
departments and school districts for the work he was doing
with children. Jason felt that many schools simply
"gave away" karate; he consistently made his students earn
it. Better grades, for example, would earn students
the right to learn more sophisticated and effective martial
arts maneuvers. Good reports from Mom and Dad would
raise the student's authority level in Jason's classes.
Because of this work, Jason earned a position in the Martial
Arts Hall of Fame (directed by Dr. Jim Thomas) not once, but
twice, and in the mean time, received many nominations for
induction.
When Jason's wife became ill, the decision was made to
relocate to a warmer climate. Las Vegas was chosen.
There Jason continued his destined journey to success in the
entertainment industry. There, once again, his love
for comedy and acting came alive. His wife took charge
of Jason's PR and bookings at many of the better-known
comedy clubs in and around the Las Vegas area.
