TOMORROW NIGHT!
I just received a phone call from Elvis tribute artist, APS actor
member, and associate producer Matt Way. He wanted to
remind you that he will be performing at 8:15 PM tomorrow night
(Thursday, July 6, 2006) in "The
Elvis Room" at the Azteca Restaurant and Crooners
Lounge, 12911 Main Street, Garden Grove, CA. -- That's one
block west of Euclid and about 3/4 of a mile north of Highway 22.
The phone number for the restaurant is (714) 638-3790.
Admission is free. This is an event for the upcoming feature
film, "From Graceland to Memphis -- The Return of the King."
Confirmed for the event are associate producer Matt Way;
producer Marv Silverman; Elvis Presley friend/associate,
producer and celebrity Tanya George; and several surprise
guests. We understand that the food is great and the
atmosphere outstanding. All APS members and guests are
invited. This should be another good networking opportunity.
Keep in mind that the event is being produced for investors and
potential investors. A limited number of shares of stock in
the Elvis film venture are still available.

Speaking
of producer Marv Silverman, he just confirmed that he will be
a speaker at this Sunday's seminar event. He has already hired
APS actors for his film, and he has yet to cast most of the roles.
So, please join us ... and in vite your actor friends: This
Sunday, July 9, 2006, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM -- The
Jeremiah Comey Studios, 1648 N. Vine Street, Hollywood, CA
90028. More information is available on our
Calendar of Events. Hope
to see you there.

from
APS member Tad Atkinson:
Just touching in briefly. I shot an episode of the
Christian program It Is Written (Adventist Media Productions),
playing an advisor to King Nebuchadnezzar. If you're
interested, it will air on channel 9 at 9:30 am on Sunday, 17
September. They've also prebooked me to portray David Berkowitz
(shooting in September). In that one, I'll also have a
voiceover in addition to physically portraying this notorious
person.
As an additional aside, I would note that
there were TWO actors who didn't even show up for work (and yes,
this WAS a paying gig)!! The producer was definitely on top of
things, sending out several confirmations of the booking to
everyone involved, so forgetfulness wasn't really considered an
excuse by anyone. Some of the crew pointed out to me that many
of today's celebs got early gigs with AMP's stuff (Loni Anderson
was one of the ones mentioned). I know it from personal
experience, I know I've heard it from you and other producers at
APS, but it still absolutely shocks me that the work ethic is so
low out here.
The play received a glowing review (myself
included). If you want, I'll get you a copy of the review.
Went to Matt's event this evening. Had a wonderful chat with
Tanya and met Marv Silverman. All in all, a good day today, and
I'm looking forward to closing the play this weekend with a
bang!

Sunday, July
9, 2006
from APS member Diantha:
I am back in town. Had a great
trip! Won't be able to make the
seminar this afternoon. Going to be dying in Jeff Rector's
movie, "Revamped." I will talk
to you sometime this week. Take care.

First
of all, Thank You to everyone who called, sent birthday cards and
e-mail cards and said Happy Birthday. It was a great birthday
yesterday. -- Rock Riddle

I
had the opportunity to speak with Microsoft Technicians for many,
many hours (actually several days) this week. I spoke with
many technicians in India -- and then a rare jewel in Nova Scotia
who spent many hours getting our main liquid-cooled computer back to
100 percent. As far as we know, we experienced no loss of
data. However, if you have not received expected email reports
or newsletters from us, please let us know so we can re-send them.
Thanks -- Rock Riddle

AUDITIONS TONIGHT
FROM
PRODUCER Julia Dameron:
Try
for an Elvis Impersonator-type who can pass as 30 to 40 years old.
Has to look like he knows how to play the guitar, AT least, Doesn't
necessarily need know how to sing and play guitar, but can act well.
TONY BIO: Tony is a rogue washed up Elvis Impersonator. At one time
he dreamed of super-stardom, but either through twists of fate or a
string of bad luck, he wound up doing the same routine every night
at a run-down casino. He wears a cynical mask, but he's got a good
heart.
He's in love with Taylor's mom, Lizzy, and at first, uses Taylor to
get close to Lizzy, but some things change.
The film is entitled, "Growing Up Vegas", a USC thesis short
directed by Amber Beard.
There is no pay, but credit and experience. We have a SAG waiver
agreement for any SAG actors. This film will be submitted to many
film festivals and will garner recognition.
Our last auditions are tomorrow night at 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the
Robert Zemeckis Center, Stage C. It's our last chance to really find
someone who can fit the role. Willing to travel to Las Vegas--
shooting days are July 27th to August 7th. (Total of 9 full shooting
days in between dates).
Address of the Robert Zemeckis Center is 3131 Figueroa Street,
(Entrance is on 32nd street) in Los Angeles.
Here are the script and the sides; they're attached.
(NOTE: Email
me, Rock -

Producer
"Growing Up Vegas"

 from
producer and APS actor member Sherwin Buydens:
Here
is a brief blurb about our winning entry thanks to you, Rock and
APS!
Through the American Film Market (AFM), I met a filmmaker, I believe
in February 2004 who had an upcoming short film called "I Stand
Here Ironing", a short story written by Tillie Olsen. At
the beginning of that project, I was listed as a possible Production
Assistant or Associate Producer. The person who was potentially
going to Co-Produce this project with my partner Bruce R.
Schwartz had dropped out leaving me to pick up many of the
pieces. After a lot of hard work, this project was completed in
September 2004 and since then we have already won an award. But here
is the kicker, we have just won another award, a much more
prestigious Telly Award. I quote:
"Congratulations on your winning entry in the 27th Annual Telly
Awards. The Annual Telly Awards - honoring TV commercials, film and
video of outstanding quality - receives over 12,000 entries
representing all 50 states and many countries around the world.
Earning recognition as a winner is a great accomplishment and your
Telly statuette symbolizes and honors a job well done. . . ."
Thanks to you and APS, this great opportunity has been bestowed upon
me, which, in my opinion, will represent a major stepping stone for
future production and acting work.
Again many thanks,
Sherwin Buydens

I
updated Chris Spinelli's on-line resume earlier today.
I wanted to share with you his response:
:
Hi Rock,
Perfect! Thank you so much. By-the-way....HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Here's to
another year of Great Health & Happiness.
The resume looks great (it has been building up quite nicely these
last few years). I've been fortunately very busy this year thanks to
your help and support (I mean it).
As I mentioned, working with Jeff was a rewarding opportunity. Not
only did I learn a lot, I met a lot of people and I'm sure it will
open up more doors. The other movie I booked a role in has not been
shot yet, it should be later this month or August and I will let you
know how that goes.
Talk to you later,
Chris

We
received an email from our producer/casting director friend Susan
Johnston today.
Hi
Rock
Trusting you are wonderful. Please pass along that on Sat. Sept.
16th at Raleigh Studios as part of ActorfestLA, there will be an
Open Casting call and it is free to attend. I'm attaching a flyer
about the event. Thanks.

Good Afternoon. (We'll
personalize the greeting here once you sign
up for the weekly newsletters)

Christopher Knight and APS
President Rock Riddle
at the World Premiere
of the feature film, "Light Years
Away"
Universal Studios, Hollywood -- Wednesday,
July 19, 2006
Last night's World
Premiere of the feature film, "Light
Years Away," was a huge
success. It was great to once
again walk down that red carpet, stopping
every few feet to do mini-interviews with
the press. HollywoodSuccess.com
and all associated with it are receiving a
good deal of international press
as a result of last night's gala event.

All of the theater's 700
seats were filled -- mostly by producers,
directors, celebrities, studio executives,
distributors, and members of the press.
This was another amazing
one-of-a-kind networking opportunity. Our
understanding is that only 1,200 "A-list"
invitations were sent out initially. Nearly
60% of those people confirmed right away. A
"second tier" of invitations were never
mailed, simply because there was no more
room.
We are very proud that about
a dozen of our APS actor members attended.
They were on producer/director/writer
Bryan Michael Stoller's
official guest list, and it was great to see
them there. We wish we could have gotten
all of our APS members in. It's wonderful,
however, that a dozen of our people were
able to experience this red-carpet event as
a result of contacts they made through APS
and Hollywood Success!

Matt Way,
Rock Riddle, and
Paul A. Brown on the Red Carpet
at the World Premiere of
the feature film, "Light Years Away"
Universal Studios, Hollywood -- Wednesday,
July 19, 2006
Christopher Knight
did a wonderful job starring as David
Sommers in the film. If you have been
following the exploits of
Christopher Knight, you'll know why
we say congratulations are
in order now for more reasons than one.
Others starring in the film were
Eric Roberts, Meadow
Williams, Tim Peyton,
Hal Linden, Barry
Van Dyke, and Adrianne
Curry. And, of course, as with all
of Bryan Michael Stoller's
Films, APS actors played
several of the credited
roles.
It was great to meet so many
producers for the first time. Many business
cards were exchanged. And, of course, it is
always a delight to run into our long-time
producer friends. It was good to see
award-winning producer/director/actor
Tony Tarantino there, for
example. Tony is currently looking for
talent for his upcoming feature film, "Prism,"
and he will be speaking at
our seminar event in Hollywood this
Sunday. Of course, now that the
premiere has taken place, we expect
Bryan Michael Stoller himself to
join us as a special guest speaker at an
upcoming seminar dinner event. Be sure to
check our "Calendar
of Events" often for
updates. Our producer friend, Jeff
Rector, was even able to break away
from shooting on his current feature film
project to attend. It was the first time
Jeff and Christopher Knight
had seen each other for some time. Jeff
will be a featured speaker at one of our
upcoming seminar events, probably in late
August or early September. It was also
good to see our multiple-award-winning
producer/director long-time friend
Joel Colman at the event. We
expect to do a special event for actors at
Joel's private home in Pacific Palisades
soon. Again, please continue to check our
calendar of events.
A special congratulations
goes out to our producer, director, casting
director, and publicist friend, Bill
Hooey. Bill handled much of the PR
and press relations for this event and did a
brilliant job. In fact, it was Bill who
decided which VIPs would walk the red carpet
and interview with the media. It certainly
helps to have highly influential friends in
this business. By the way, Bill will be
sharing his expertise and experiences with
all who can attend this Sunday's
Special APS Accelerated Success Seminar
in Hollywood. Come join Tony
Tarantino, Bill Hooey,
Hollywood International CEO Gary
Levinson and APS President
Rock Riddle this Sunday if you
possibly can. Basic details follow
with complete information available on the
website:

I just received a phone call from our
producer, director, writer friend, Donald F. Glut. Don
is in Chicago at the moment, but will be returning to L.A. around
August 5th. His "I Was a Teenage Movie Maker" DVD collection
is in the final stages of completion. There is 12 hours of DVD
material not counting the DVD photo collection. Producer,
director, and distributor (Pathfinder Pictures) Gregory
Hatanaka says it's the best DVD collection he's ever seen.
Don talked about his upcoming premiere screening of his latest
feature film "The Mummy's Kiss: Second Dynasty." It
takes place at Sony Studios next month. We'll have full
details for you within a couple of weeks. Don has two signings
set for the Los Angeles area: October 3rd at Rocket Video is
the first. The next takes place in November at Dark Delicacies
in Burbank. Again, watch for updates on our calendar of events
and (probably) in upcoming email newsletters.

I just received an email
from Pathfinder Pictures' producer/director Gregory
Hatanaka. In addition to his multiple-award-winning movie,
"Mad Cowgirl" opening, he also celebrated a birthday and got
married recently. I was lucky enough to be at the private
premiere screening of "Mad Cowgirl." What a uniquely
different, interesting film. This man is certainly going
places in the film business! He has expressed interest in
speaking at an upcoming APS seminar event as well. We'll keep
you informed.

" Over
the Top Rope: Rock Riddle's Wrestling Revue" column #23
has been completed. It will be published July 27, but you can
read it here (along with the other 22 stories). Just
to read them all. Additional photos will be added to the last
few stories
as time permits.

And, yes, that's my
departed friend, Andre the Giant. In the photo on the left,
he's standing with a normal-sized 225-pound wrestler. On the
right is a photo of Andre's hand holding a standard 12-ounce
beer/soda can. I share a couple of stories about him in column
#23. Clicking on the photos will enlarge them.

Tomorrow's Seminar
Event will be the final event at the old Jeremiah
Comey Studios at 1648 N. Vine Street, Hollywood. Please
invite your actor friends and attend this memorable "Good-Bye,
Hollywood & Vine" event. Tony Tarantino and Bill Hooey are
confirmed, and we expect additional producers to drop by.

I just received the "go-ahead" from our multiple-award-winning
producer/director friend, Joel Colman. We will be
producing a seminar event at his beautiful (and cool) Pacific
Palisades home on Sunday afternoon, July 30th. We'll have
details on the website soon. Our August seminar events will
take place at Jeremiah Comey's beautiful new studio on Ventura Blvd.
in Studio City. We also expect to do a special event in North
Hollywood. And, we are awaiting final confirmation for the
August Estate Networking Event. The tentative date is now
August 20.

Thursday, July 27, 2006g,
though.

Now, since
we're talking about exciting stuff, here's another major door that
is about to open: Keep this confidential for now: For
those of you who were able to attend last week's world premiere of
Bryan Michael Stoller's movie, "Light Years Away," you
know how impressive and exciting it was. Great high energy.
Lots of press, etc. Well, the person who handled publicity,
celebrity and press relations for that event was our good friend
Bill Hooey. As a result of last week's huge success, more
than a few production companies have approached Bill to potentially
handle their upcoming world premieres. Shall we hint at a
tie-in with a major studio? Hint, hint. This possibility
seems to be moving towards reality at lightning speed. Once it
completely solidifies, APS will be a part of each premiere.
APS actor members will be an important part of the vast majority of
the premieres. This will provide a modest revenue stream for
APS and will open many doors for APS actors. This looks like
the best time in the 30-year history of APS to be an active member!

I just
made my deadline for next week's newspaper column.
Rock Riddle's
Wrestling Revue #24 will be hit the stands on Thursday,
August 3rd, but you can read it NOW,
right here. And, the
other 23 are
available here. Enjoy. (Photos will be added
to the last three stories soon). By the way, to the left is a
photo of my old friend, Roddy Piper. Roddy is one of the stars
of David Heavener's current feature film. I know several of
our actors are working on the project. I have been asked to do
a day on it. If you see Roddy before I do, be sure to tell him
that Rock says "Hello." -- Rock

Over the past few days, it seems that a few keys on my pretty little
blue (to match the liquid-cooled computer) keyboard weren't
consistently working. Maybe that's why a big cup of coffee
spilled all over that keyboard and mouse yesterday. A hundred
and ten dollars later, this new Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop
6000 keyboard and high definition laser technology wireless mouse
are getting a good workout. In another few days, my fingers
may actually learn the new keyboard placements and all of the new
function keys.

I
received an email Wednesday from a film producer asking me to be in
a short film. I've gotten more than a few similar offers over
the past few years. I thought I'd share this one with you.
I have reproduced that email and my response below. I thought
it might be of interest. (I have replaced the actual names
with dashes).
ACTING ROLE
IN WRESTLING FILM
How are you? I loved
reading your recent column! My name
is ---- -- -------, I’m a film
producer based in Los Angeles. I’m taking a break from a feature
film that I’m developing to help cast a
(short film), "--- --- ------------".
The film is set in the 1940’s world of
professional wrestling.
Your name comes up often in my
conversations with older wrestling fans. Also the
writer/director of the project, J--------
P----, came across your name often during his research.
We’re holding audition this Saturday, July 29 in Hollywood,
and I wanted to invite you to come in and meet with the director
in regards to the lead role ....
I’ve attached the synopsis and
screenplay for your perusal. The
director would really like to meet with you this Saturday to
talk about the project. If you’d like to speak with him via
phone, please give me a phone number that I may give to him.
In case you’re wondering how I
came across you email address; while walking down Sunset
Boulevard this morning, I caught out of the corner of my eye on
the ground a news paper sheet that was opened to your column (LA
Press, July 29,2006, page 4). Call me superstitious, but I don’t
think that was a coincidence.
Respectfully,
---- -- -------
========== And Rock's response ==========
Good
Morning, ----;
Thank you for your interest. I am offered two to three film
roles per month. Because acting is not my passion, I have
only accepted work in three films in the past two years. I
have agreed to do a small role with Johnny Depp in my
producer friend Philippe Mora’s upcoming feature, but, as a
rule, I routinely decline film work. I simply do not have
the time. Also, my company, APS Entertainment, is producing
a feature film next year which is centered around late
1970’s professional wrestling. It focuses on what
professional wrestling actually was – as opposed to what
fans today think it might have been. If you and your
director have a chance to read my newspaper columns (all 24
are available online –
www.HollywoodSuccess.com/wrestling_revue.htm ), you’ll
get a good feel for what the world of professional wrestling
really was – and what our feature will depict.
I wish you and -------- the best
of luck on “--- --- -----------”
and your future projects. As far as acting in your current
project myself, however, I must pass. Thank you for
thinking of me. Please let me know if I can be of
assistance to you in any other way. All the best,
Rock Riddle,
President (Bio
Here)
APS Entertainment & Hollywood Success
www.HollywoodSuccess.com
and, the response to my
response this morning:
Good
morning Rock,
I'm sorry you won't be able to participate, but I am glad to
hear about your upcoming project. I have a lot
of friends and former promoters
from the 1970's world of wrestling,
so I know what it was really like.
I look forward to seeing your project come to
the screen.
FYI, I'm helping to cast this particular project since these
guys have a lot of passion. I'm
actually a producer who finances
and invests in movies, so out of
the 150 or so proposals I get I only pick 2-3 to finance,
so I know what you mean about being selective....
Keep me posted about your project and I wish you much
success with it!
Take care,
----
