Cyanne McClairian -- BIO
A committed Mel Brooks fan (actually,
she probably should be committed), Cyanne fell into
Acting...literally...at the early age of 6 & is now rapidly on the
rise in the Independent Film Circuit, from Slamdance to Cannes
& many others.
Often compared to a young Meryl
Streep or a female Gary Oldman, Cyanne is a true chameleon, from
Stand Up Comedian to Award Winning Shakespearean Actress.
Portraying such roles as Femme
Fatale, Southern Hairdresser, Polish Fortune Teller, Heroin
Addict, Faerie, Vampire, Abused Goth Girl, Nun & Bacchanalian
Warrior Goddess...you never know what she'll do next!
Just this last year, Cyanne returned
from performing in a month long, Nationwide
Tour that she was
hand picked for. Opening in Hollywood, CA, they then performed in
San Francisco & climaxed just Off Broadway in New York City.
Debuting a piece from her upcoming One Woman Show, she
returned & was immediately cast as the Russian Showgirl, Bushka in
the Pilot, Discount
Divas slated for FOX.
A very busy year for her, this Comic
Pixie tried her hand at Stand Up & came to be known as a Regular at
both The Comedy
Store & The Hollywood Improv.
She then guest-starred as the Burned
Out Rocker Waitress, Evie, on the MTV Pilot, Smokey
Barrero, & had
starring roles in 3 shorts and 2 features, including the sexually
abused Goth girl, Billie, in 3 Time “Best Horror Short” Winner, Welcome
Home.
As the year continued, Cyanne
garnered constant acclaim in the 1st
Annual British Film Festival Los Angeles in
May, as the Surgery Obsessed Brooklyn Diva in the Comedy Short, Dr
Chong, Plastic Surgeon.
She had originated the role back in a sketch piece on stage in 2009,
& it was soon after put on film & then quickly accepted in Film
Festivals throughout the UK, Canada & South Africa.
No stranger to the Festival Circuit,
Cyanne has been seen at Slamdance in Mark Christensen's
film, Boxhead
Revolution., which
later debuted in Greenwich Village, New York, & also had a
co-starring role in Brad Mays & John Morrissey's highly acclaimed
feminist re-imagining of The
Bacchae, which came
out in late 2005 & was a Finalist to be at Cannes.
Today, she continues to perform in
the Comedy Circuit from time to time, though due to her schedule,
she has put it on the back burner to make room for other projects.
Some of her other films include Strange
As Angels, Labyrinth of Jareth (the Film), The Dream of Alvareen, &
Clueless, directed by
Amy Heckerling.
Television credits include Dr.
Quinn, Medicine Woman, The John Larroquette Show &
the cable soap opera,Balboa.
Currently studying with Paul Parker
at the Australian Institute of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, Cyanne
graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West, & was a
star student in William Alderson's Master Meisner Class.
On stage, Cyanne won First Place in
the Palm Springs National Theatre Awards for her portrayal of
Ophelia in Hamlet.
She has also starred in Measure
For Measure, Taming Of The Shrew, Hot'L Baltimore, The Marriage of
Bette & Boo & Dangerous
Liaisons. To date,
two of her favorite roles have been Puck in A
Midsummer Night's Dream,
& Charles Manson's disciple Squeeky Fromme in Assassins.
So...“Is that a 10 gallon hat or are
you just enjoying the show?” Woof!
